Registered Nurse

Southern Dental Alliance is looking for a Dental Hygienist to join our team!

Southern Dental Alliance is a dental support organization affiliated with 40+ practices in the Southeast. The lead doctors of each practice pursue aggressive growth and offer invaluable mentoring and support. The practices operate under eleven main practice identities

Purpose and summary of role

We are in search of a pediatric dental sedation recovery nurse. Pediatric exposure preferred but not mandatory. PACU and recovery room experience welcomed. Preferred to be PALS and ACLS certified. Will work closely alongside a board-certified Anesthesiologist to complete outpatient dental procedures. Nurses role will be to assist the anesthesiologist with pre-op of the patients, drawing up medications, helping set up the room, and assist the Anesthesiologist with monitors and IV placement as needed. They will be utilized to recover the patients after the dental sedation procedure until discharge. This will include helping explain the post-op instructions to the parents before discharge. Anesthesiologist able to teach on the job

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

  • 3+ years’ nursing experience, preferably in a pediatric care facility
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required
  • Valid nursing license
  • Advanced knowledge of EMRs
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule and to fill in when needed
  • Excellent bedside manner and communication skills
  • Ability to explain treatments and conditions to children of all ages
  • Working knowledge of health care laws and regulations

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Industry experience in Dentistry
  • Dental Nursing

Additional Eligibility Requirements

  • Current CPR certification.
  • Employee may be required to submit to an annual Tuberculosis (TB) and Rubella screening.

Essential Functions

  • Assist with pre- and post-op anesthesia I.V. Sedation cases for pediatric dental patients
  • Patient monitoring and recovery
  • Remove I.V. from patients
  • Discuss pre & post-op with parents
  • Updating parents as needed during procedures
  • Assist anesthesiologist as needed during routine and/or emergent patient situations
  • Fill out recovery room record and/or another pre & post-op paperwork
  • Ability to lift and/or help transition patients from procedure room to recovery room

Work Environment

This job operates in a medical/clinical environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The employee frequently is required to talk and hear; stand for long periods of time; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to blood and blood-borne pathogens and/or physical risks, which will require OSHA training.

Position Type and Expectations of Work Hours

This is a part-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 30-40 hours a week.

Travel
